About Parramatta District Cricket Club
Parramatta District Cricket Club is NSW's oldest living cricket club, and potentially the oldest in Australia. Parramatta played its first recorded inter district match vs Liverpool on 11 September 1843. Over the years, the club has been named Parramatta, Cumberland, Parramatta & Cumberland, and the Parramatta Alfreds in the 1860s , '70s and '80s. It played 6 times against touring English teams in the 1880s and 1890s. The Club was known as the Central Cumberland District Cricket Club for nearly 90 years from 1894-1982. The Club was already 50 years old when it joined the inaugural Sydney Grade Competition in 1893 as a foundation member. Since then it has won 4 first grade Premierships and numerous lower grade competitions. The Club has played matches in Parramatta Park since 1863. Many talented players have represented Parramatta including the first of its 19 Test and International Representatives, Frank Iredale in the 1890’s, Gerry Hazlitt, Les Pye, "Mudgee" Cranney, Gar and Mick Waddy, W.P. " Old Bill " Howell and his sons "Young Bill ", Arthur and Norman, as well as Ron James, Ray Rowe and in modern times Richie Benaud, John Benaud, Doug Walters and Greg Matthews.
Currently, Sean Abbott represents Parramatta, the Sydney Sixers, NSW and Australia. Claire Moore, Jade Allen, Isabella Malgioglio and Ryan Hackney represent Parramatta and NSW.
Nick Bertus and Hayley Silver-Holmes have represented the Sydney Sixers. Parramatta Juniors Tim Ward and Hayley Silver Holmes now represent Tasmania.
