Subject: Re: Parra WIN Green Shield Fantastic Lads! Didn't fall in your lap either, you had to fight as a team to conquer. "BRAVO ZULU" : which is a Naval signal for well done; in Aussie speak = GOODONYERS!
I write to you guys as the proud Poet Laureate of our old Cricket Club & a mate of John Benaud, Tom Wood & Dashing Dougie W. , who I see was present to watch your victory. I played in that 1960's era, which of course had Richie Benaud as our Club Captain, who was a great believer in & promoter of youth. I mostly played 2nds & 3rds when we won Sydney First Grade & Third Grade (same season :1964-65...Same cap too Guys) Started my cricket at "BAULKO" Primary School, & played as Skipper of Baulkham Hills under 10's. Coir mats on Saturday Mornings at Horwood reserve, down Cook St/Park road. Not a blade of grass in those days & plenty of rocks in the outer on the bush ground. We loved it!
Hearty Congratulations to you all,
May I see your names on/in the Honour Rolls for many years to come!
BRAVEHEART BOB MCMILLAN.
Living in the Central West of NSW @ GRENFELL where one of our Town local teams = "Grenfell Eels", also supported by Jaycar & skippered by President Ray Smith (a V.P. of Parra). I shall continue to take pride, as you do, in our Club AND I know how much joy your achievements bring to all Officials, Mums & Dads & loyal supporters.
Sincere Congratulations TEAM!
